Steve Friedman
Steve Friedman advises early-stage companies in the areas of go-to-market strategy, product positioning, business development, and executive recruitment. He brings 20 years of business development and sales experience to his current role with FirstBest Systems.
Steve formerly was senior vice president of sales and alliances at a major provider of Web messaging software and services. He also served as vice president of BEA Systems where he was instrumental in growing the indirect channels business from a $25m to a $100m run rate and in implementing a comprehensive indirect channels program with the leading OEMs, ISVs and systems integrators. He came to BEA through the acquisition of WebLogic, where he built and co-managed the field sales organization, increasing revenues from $200,000 to over $100 million in two years.
Steve also has held key sales executive and business development positions with leading Enterprise Software firms including Scopus Technology (acquired by Siebel), Verity (acquired by Autonomy) and Neuron Data (acquired by Bachman Information Systems).
He currently serves on the Board of Boxtone, which provides mobile user management solutions, and Mocana who provides security solutions for device networks. Steve also serves on the Advisory Board for Gigaspaces, which provides highly scalable infrastructure software for extreme transaction processing environments. Past Advisory Boards include Collaxa, a leader in BPM software (acquired by Oracle) and Rapid Logic, a leader in Device Management Software (acquired by Wind River).
Steve was awarded a BS Degree in Economics from the University of Delaware.
Leonard C.G. (Geoff) Smith
Geoff formerly was executive vice president, chief operating officer, and a member of the board of directors of ePolicy, Inc.
Geoff’s long insurance career experience was based in commercial/PC underwriting and sales leadership. He retired from the Hartford Financial Services Group after serving as President, Commercial Affinity Operations, one of 3 Hartford North American Property/Casualty operating companies.
He represented The Hartford on the National Council of Compensation Insurance (NCCI), Chairman of Executive Committee and as a member; and also on the Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI) as Chairman of Executive Committee and Chairman of Board.
Geoff is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
Previously, Geoff served in the United States Air Force Intelligence Service after receiving his B.A in Economics from Assumption College and is still a member of the Assumption’s Board of Trustees and a member of its Athletics Hall of Fame.
